South Indians lead in migration to the West

South Indians now lead the rest of the country in migrating to Canada and Australia and with a new set of rules coming out in these countries migration is going to go up by another 30 per cent, said an official of an immigration consultancy firm on Wednesday.

BS Sandhu, chairman and managing director of World Wide Immigration Consultancy Services Ltd (WWICS), said on account of the new set of rules, the waiting period for migrating to Canada is now just five months if one chooses the education route.

''It has now become faster via the education route which means that one can work and earn up to Canadian $1,000 a week by working for 20 hours a week while studying. Moreover, the Canadian Parliament has recently provided for increased budget for the country's missions to process a backlog of 9,25,000 immigration cases,'' said Sandhu.

He also added that with English becoming a requirement, those from the South Indian states stand a better chance.

''Another country that has now become a favourite is the Czech Republic where by investing barely Rs 1.5 million one can get a business visa and that too in a matter of less than 10 months,'' said Sandhu.
