These days, we hear a lot about Search Engine Optimization (SEO), and how we should apply it to our websites. Many people, however, get confused by all the contradictory information out there - i.e. Black Hat, White Hat, do this, don't do that, etc.
Well, I recently visited the web page of an SEO reseller called SEM Worldwide to see what it is all about.
They have a simple, straight-forward definition of SEO:
"This is the process of driving a web site along with the unique pages of a web site to the top of the world's major search engines (Google, Yahoo, MSN, Ask) for the keywords and key phrases that your customers are looking for online."
That is a very good, results-oriented definition that steers clear of technical jargon.
While SEM Worldwide works with clients from any field, they specialize in mortgage, retail, legal, and real estate search engine optimization.
They follow a multi-step approach to SEO. They work on keyword analysis, meta tags, title tags, etc. SEM also focuses on local search (for example, San Diego search engine optimization).
Finally, it is important to remember that SEO is not isolated from the rest of internet marketing. As a result, SEM Worldwide also provides service in areas such as professional design, backend development/programming, ecommerce, etc.
