Why Men Won't Commit

There are many reasons why men won’t commit. Some say they haven’t found the perfect woman; some say they want to wait until they can afford the perfect woman; and some say “I already have the perfect woman, why bother to marry her?”

If you're wondering if your boyfriend ever plans to settle down and have a kids, the answer is probably “Yes, but not in the near future.”

A recent study named The State of Our Unions conducted face-to-face interviews with 60 single, heterosexual men aged 25 - 33, and came up with this conclusion: Single men DO want to have their own home, wife and kids - but not until they're older. Here are some of the reasons they gave, in no particular order:

1.Men no longer need to get married to get sex.
It's easy nowadays to meet women - in bars, at work, through the Internet - and apparently, many of them will sleep with you without marriage, or even a commitment. So, as far as these men are concerned, if sex is all they want, they look for a sex partner, not a wife.

2. Men no longer need to get married to have a wife.
For many men, cohabitation is a great way of having their cake and eating it too. They get all the benefits of having a wife without giving a commitment in exchange. If you're the type of girl who is fine with this, then good for you. If you're the type who is hoping for marriage in exchange for your devotion, then you should have listened to your mother when she said that “He won't buy the cow if he already gets the milk for free.” Crass? Absolutely - but true, unfortunately.

3. Men are afraid of divorce - and of alimony.
So who likes divorce? It's not only hard on your emotions, it's also hard on your pocketbook.
Well, it doesn't take a genius to figure out that one great way to avoid divorce is by not getting married in the first place. I'm not saying it's the best way, but it's one of the easiest ways, and some of us are lazier than others.

4 Men want to wait until they are financially stable.
Not unreasonable. Admirable, even, in certain situations. A man who knows the responsibilities he has for his wife and kids, and wants to make sure he is fit to carry them before taking them on, is a good man. Now, if you and your boyfriend have very different definitions of what “financially stable” means, then you must seriously consider compatibility issues that will haunt you even after you are married.

5 Men are afraid of the changes that marriage will make on their lives.
Less freedom, more responsibilities: That's how many men see marriage. In truth, marriage can be so much more rewarding than that. But with such bad advertising, who can blame them if they're not so eager to buy?

6.Men are waiting for the perfect soulmate.
Well, so are women. Now, in case you are wondering what their definition of “perfect soulmate” is, it means “the woman who will accept me as I am and will not try to change me.” So if you don't like something about your man, either you learn to accept it or keep looking. (If it's a major issue, I'd say keep looking.) On our part, we don't want a man who will consider us his life project either, do we?

Learn from flowers

Reader Gerson Luiz tells the story of a rose that longed for the company of the bees, but none would come to her. Even so, the flower was still capable of dreaming. When she felt all alone, she would imagine a garden filled with bees that came to kiss her. And so she managed to resist until the next day, when she opened her petals again.

"Aren’t you tired?" someone must have asked her.

"No. I have to go on fighting," answered the flower.

"Why?"

"Because if I don’t open up, I wither."

The Lotus

Buddha gathered his disciples and showed them a lotus flower: "I want you to tell me something about what I hold in my hand."

The first gave a whole treaty on the importance of flowers. The second composed a lovely poem about its petals. The third invented a parable using the flower as an example.

Now it was Mahakashyap’s turn. He came up to Buddha, smelt the flower, and caressed his face with one of the petals.

"This is a lotus flower," said Mahakashyap. "Simple, like everything that comes from God. And beautiful, like everything that comes from God."

"You were the only one who saw what I hold in my hand," was Buddha’s comment.

A wise man

For days the couple travelled almost without speaking. Finally, they arrived in the middle of the forest, and found the wise man.

"My companion said almost nothing to me during the whole journey," said the young man.

"A love without silence is a love without depth," answered the wise man.

"But she didn’t even say that she loved me!"

"Some people always claim that. And we end up wondering if their words are true."

The three of them sat down on a rock. The wise man pointed to the field of flowers all around them: "Nature isn’t always repeating that God loves us. But we realise that through His flowers."

Meeting God

The woman was strolling through a shopping mall when she noticed a poster announcing a new flower shop. When she went in, she got a shock; she saw no vases, no arrangements, and it was God in person who stood behind the counter.

"You can ask for whatever you want," said God.

"I want to be happy. I want peace, money, the capacity to be understood. I want to go to heaven when I die. And I want all this to be granted to my friends too."

God opened a few pots that were on the shelf behind him, removed some grains from inside, and handed them to the woman.

"Here you have the seeds," He said. "Begin to plant them, because here we don’t sell the fruits."

MEN r Women

It is very possible that after the public revelation of this article I would be ambushed by a frightening group of women in their mid-thirties, possessing mediocre grooming habits, and lethargic husbands: a group that calls itself the Feminist Mafia. But, I dont care. Its more important to me that the truth is divulged; the truth that has been kept a secret for centuries by generations of trained fighters known as WO-Men (Warriors Obliterating Men); the truth which, when revealed, would change the course of life as we know it today; the truth that men's lives are so much worse than women's lives.
Boyhood is not just about being stupid and breaking stuff. It also involves the very traumatic experience of trying to negotiate with the baggage of gender guilt thats thrust upon you by the women around you. The thrusting of the gender guilt, at such an early age, is, of course, the primary psychological weapon in the artillery of the Warriors Obliterating Men. Mothers, grandmothers, aunts, sisters-they all seem to mutter the same guilt-inducing line when faced with any problem: Oh, why should you bother? Youre a male. Were the ones who have to endure it. Its not so much the words as its the tone of their voice that fills you, the little boy, with a gnawing feeling of culpability. There starts the journey of the demoralized man whos forcibly made a part of a generalization that he doesnt care much about.
However, the contrast between the truth and the generalization is as stark as the difference between a car and a car salesman. Men do not have better lives than women just because women say we do. One example that all women cite is the mans gift to pee standing up. Let me tell you something, its not all that its hyped up to be. In fact, it could be downright harrowing on certain occasions. Men do not enjoy the privacy of a separate stall when they go to a public restroom like women do. All we get are half a dozen contraptions mounted on the wall that to someone with a reasonably active imagination would look like the beaks of really large pelicans. But the really disturbing part lies in how close the half a dozen pelican beaks are to each other. And the only thing that separates you and the peer next to you is a thin rectangular partition thats nowhere near as tall as it should be. Can you imagine the trauma of having to pray for a guy who's shorter than you pee next to you every time you visit the restroom to relieve yourself? We'd much rather spend a few extra seconds pulling down our pants than having to be on surveillance mode every time nature calls. But, of course, women will never understand because they re the ones who have to endure it.
Another bane of being a woman, they say, is having to deal with that time of the month which makes her cranky, emotional, and depressed. Well, let me inform you women that we men undergo similar phases as well, but on a level way more intense than you could fathom. A woman couldnt possibly comprehend how cranky, vulnerable, and suicidal a man can get for a stretch of time as long as even a year whenever the Indian Cricket Team goes and makes a mess of a match that they should have won blindfolded. Forget the monthly mess, ladies, this one bugs us every minute of every hour of every day we live. Therefore, women have their womens problems and we guys have the Indian Cricket Team. You tell me which is worse.
What Ive revealed so far is merely the tip of the iceberg. Although, I feel its safe to assume that men all over the world are wising up to the real truth. Never again should we drop our heads in shame and walk away tongue-tied when a woman tells us that we have it good. We should stand up and bravely put ourselves down. Dont let any woman tell you that youre happier than them; stand your ground and prove to them that youre more depressed than Vincent Van Goghs optician. And if they corner you and pull out their trump card- the labor pain card- smile back confidently at them, take your cap off and show them the huge bald spot thats staring back with a vengeance.

Czechs drink TWICE as much Beer as Water

Czechs are not just the biggest beer drinkers in the world, but they actually drink it almost twice as much as bottled water. According to a study by KHC, Czechs drink 156,9 liters per person per year, while each person drinks only 87,1 liters of bottled water per year, according to the EPI.
Austria is also drinking more beer than water, while Americans drink just a little more water than beer. A full comparison based on the mentioned 2004 data shows the following:

School was a big nightmare

Back to school — three words guaranteed to strike terror into the hearts of children everywhere, not to mention those big kids in Hollywood. The end of the summer holidays and the impending first day back at school isn’t just a scary time for children, it seems. We’ve found a whole class of stars who still shudder at the thought of school even though they’ve long left their desks behind for a career as a superstar. So, come the beginning of the new term, don’t be surprised if among the kids waiting for the bus in their new uniforms, there are one or two stars joining in the chorus of “WE HATE SCHOOL!”

Tom Cruise

Tom’s dyslexia made his school days a misery due to his cruel classmates. “I was extremely lonely,” he says. “I didn’t have many friends. I was dyslexic and a lot of kids made fun of me. That experience made me tough inside because you learn to quietly accept abuse and ridicule.”

Jennifer Lopez

J-Lo fell well short of being top of the class when it came to being popular at school. The Latin stunner was a high school bully and once got in a knife fight with her own sister! Stephanie Herlory, Jennifer’s best friend from New York’s Preston High School, says: “She was very straightforward, and if you were getting on her bad side, she’d let you know it. She was tough.Nobody wanted to be her enemy.” And pals say some of her biggest brawls were with her older sister Leslie, whom she once chased with a knife. “She was always getting into huge fights with Leslie,” adds Stephanie. “It would start out with just screaming, then when their tempers really flared, it would turn into a wild catfight. Jennifer and I both spent some time in after-school detention.” And the recently married (again) diva admits she didn’t enjoy her schooling. “I wasn’t the most popular girl in class,” she says. “I had my friends, but I was comfortable with myself. There’s always those most popular girls and I wasn’t one of those.”

Body parts that reveal your intelligence

If you want to know how clever someone is, just look them in the eye. At least that's what scientists now suggest...

Joanna Rowe at the University of Louisville reckon she's found what some of the world's most intelligent people, including Stephen Hawking, Marie Curie and Stephen Fry, have in common: blue eyes. And that those folk with dark eyes are better at physical activities.

Researchers believe there are many ways to discover someone's characteristics, from forehead shape to finger length. Here, we examine the many insights that can be gleaned from the body's organs...

Head If you want to know how brainy someone is, check out the size of their head. A team of psychologists from the University of Western Ontario in Canada found that greater width, length and circumference all indicated greater intelligence. But pointy heads - people with taller as opposed to wider heads and the name sometimes used to describe intellectuals - may not be bright at all.

Eyes Large eyes are generally considered more favourable, according to Chinese face-reading beliefs. They are associated with intelligence and astuteness.

Nose A woman with a hooked nose is good-natured and clever, according to the ancient study of physiognomy which suggests physical attributes shape personality. A straight nose of normal length makes a woman beautiful, wise, witty and diligent. A woman with a small nose is said to be cunning, shrewd, mischievous and lustful.

Fingers The length of your index and ring fingers predicts how clever you are, according to research at the University of Bath. Boys with shorter index fingers excel at maths, while girls with index and ring fingers of the same length were also brainier.

Bodyhair Being hirsute is a sign of intelligence in men, according to Dr Aikarakudy Alias of Chester health centre, Illinois. He found 50 per cent of men with high IQs were hairy compared with one in 10 of the male population.

Big Toe Greek and Roman statues in the classical tradition often have short big toes. This feature has been considered a sign of heightened intelligence in many cultures through the ages.

Forehead If this is broad, the person will be generous, intelligent and wise. And when it is short, it denotes he will be poor and likely to die young. A curved forehead means the person may be rich and spiritual.

Earlobe Large and thick earlobes are a sign of intelligence, and are associated with wealth and a long life according to Siang Mien, Chinese face-reading. Those with angular ears are more shrewd and vivacious.

Lips Men with thin lips are more intelligent, according to astrology website www.aryabhatt.com. But if your lips are wide you will be unlucky. And ladies watch out: if he has a big protruding lower lip, he may be unfaithful.

Boobs It's a case of the bigger, the better. A study of 1,200 women in Chicago found big boobs equalled big brains. "Busty women averaged 10 IQ points more than less well-endowed ladies," said Dr Rossdale, herself a 32A.

Stomach It's good news if you're a vegetarian. By sticking to a veggie diet your IQ will be around five points higher than those who regularly eat meat, according to research from the University of Southampton.

Height Tall people are brighter and earn more money on average than their shorter counterparts, according to researchers at Princeton University, New Jersey. As early as three, tall children performed better in tests. Stanford University found a link between being taller and IQ in a study of 14,000 children.
